Porto, (lovingly known as Boo šŸ¾) is a 5-year-old miniature schnauzer with the sweetest, most gentle soul. His early life is a bit of a mystery, but we do know he came from a breeding situation and has been through more than any dog ever should. Despite being previously devocalized, Porto still finds his voice in the form of soft, endearing howls that make him all the more special.Porto is a shy little guy who startles easily, so heā€™ll need a patient, understanding home where he can feel safe and move at his own pace. Because of this, he would do best in a calm, adult-only environment and will need careful handling as he can be a flight risk if frightened. A fully enclosed fenced yard is a must for his safety.The beautiful part? Porto is starting to discover the joys of being a dog šŸ’› Heā€™s learning about toys, enjoying bully sticks, and quietly taking in the world around him. He gets along wonderfully with cats and would likely thrive with a gentle, friendly dog or feline companion to help guide him and build his confidence.With time, love, and a peaceful home, Porto has so much potential to blossom into the most loyal and tender little companion.

Adoptions

When you adopt from Rosie Animal Adoption, your dog is vet-checked, dewormed, treated for fleas and parasites, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. Puppies up to 4 months receive their first vaccines; dogs 4 months and older receive DAPP, rabies, and leptospirosis; dogs over 7 months get a heartworm/Lyme 4DX snap test. Adoption fees are $550 (standard), $450 for dogs aged 8ā€“9, and $300 for dogs 10+.

Rosie rescues dogs only and is a proud member of CAACQ. We are volunteer-run and cannot answer phone calls about animals. The first step is to complete the application; we will contact you only if youā€™re a suitable match.

We do not have a public shelter; meetings occur by appointment after approval or at adoption clinics.

We do not adopt strays to families with children under 12, and all family members must be present at adoption.
Surrender

At Rosie Animal Adoption, we know surrendering a dog is hard, and the dogā€™s wellbeing comes first. Please be cautious: unaltered dogs are often targeted by backyard breeders and puppy mills, where conditions are inhumane.

Our volunteers receive many urgent requests, and with the rise of homeless dogs in Quebec, openings arenā€™t always immediate. Please be patientā€”weā€™ll help as quickly as we can and may refer you to partner groups.

Most important: never give away or sell an unaltered dog, especially ā€œfree to a good home.ā€ Spay or neuter your pet before rehoming to protect them.
